    Hydrogen is only a …
Hydrogen is only a source of energy if it can be taken in its pure form and reacted with another chemical, such as oxygen. But all the hydrogen on Earth, except that in hydrocarbons, has already been oxidized, so none of it is available as fuel. The only way to get free hydrogen on Earth is to make it. The trouble is that making hydrogen requires more energy than the hydrogen so produced can provide.

aboxofjosh - agreed that public transit should definitely be improved. As for cost, it should come down soon. There are so many examples of technology starting expensive and then hitting mass market volumes with a large drop in costs. Let’s hope.

Interesting stuff for sure, but it would be nicer if I could afford one. Or better yet, if we had better public transit so I wouldn’t have to drive at all.

Cutting-edge EV batteries from China - example:
    http://www.everspring.net/product-battery.htm
These batteries are better, and cheaper than the ones in those $100,000+ sportscars. They are as cheap as lead-acid batteries, and they hold up for 1100 charges.

It’s a Chinese electric car, which will be imported into the USA next year. The driving range is almost as good as those sports cars above. But it only costs $28500.
