If you had at most $35000, would you purchase hybrid vehicle or a sports car?

Author: admin  |  Category: 8

add "why?" at the end of the question
this is for a class…

i would buy an vauxhall - opel ecospeedster. diesels are part of the future

118 mpg and 160 mph.

hybrids are complicated, expensive,…and too much solid waste in the landfills from all of the batteries and there is also the concerns over the high EMF fields that they have, especially if people have children (leukemia, etc., if you believe that).

A hybrid, because of the price of fuel more than any other reason. It's going to get worse, not better, so an alternative way of driving makes sense to me.

    sports car
because hybrids perform less on the high way
    they lose value really fast
    they are hard to maintain
they are harder to sell later on
    sports car has a market

I'd pay off bills and then invest the rest in something more tangible then a car that will be off the books and considered junk in 7 to 10 years.

    Cars are not investments.

Hybrid - feel good about the impact, and actually impresses people more. More versatile: can carry up to 5 people or bike/furniture in the back (toyota prius hatchback). You might be able to get both if you get both second hand.

I would purchase a Hybrid. There are so many hardships created by our need for petroleum, that we should be conserving energy.

If we had seriously begun conserving fuel in the 70's with significantly efficient vehicle standards, we'd be in better shape today. It's not too late to start now!

I'd buy a sports car car cause, I have a prius already. (Oh and that guy who said "SUV that uses baby owls for fuel." That is funny as hell! Of course I would be mighty careful who you say it too. YA people can be really touchy.)

Well, knowing what I know now, I would probably get a 2007 Toyota Prius, loaded, and still have $5000 to spend on gas. Or I could actually get a Honda Accord Hybrid for $30,000 and have a hybrid and a sportscar in one. The Accord Hybrid is the most powerful Accord ever built and still achieves 35 mpg on the Highway. I would not consider a conventional sportscar considering the harm they do the environment and America's dependence on foreign oil. Hybrids are the best options on the market in many vehicle segments. The Batteries have been proven to last, they are as safe as comparable conventional models, and the performance is more than anyone really needs. Certainly if you have the money it is worth it to opt for a hybrid above anything else. The emissions alone make it a superior choice to diesels which no longer meet EPA standards in 2007 except for the Mercedes Benz E320 cdi. So with an Accord hybrid and $35,000, you really can have your cake and eat it too.
